Hi, I’m Ruth! I’m a proud Northern gal (East Yorkshire born & bred!), clean beauty & skincare addict, Musical Theatre nerd, wannabe yogi, plant lover and advocate for all things sustainable. I’m currently based near London, UK.
I first discovered clean beauty in 2017, through an online article. Before that – beyond being against animal testing and recycling what packaging I could – I hadn’t thought any further about the impact the beauty products I used were having on the world around me, as well as my own health. When I started to delve into the world of clean beauty I was fascinated, but I felt as though I’d never be able to afford to switch my products for cleaner or more eco-friendly alternatives as they seemed to cost a lot more than I was used to paying (and everybody knows a Northerner loves a bargain, naturally!). Through research and trial-and-error, I discovered that there are affordable products out there and that – more often than not – great quality, long lasting products are worth the investment. I wanted to share my findings and encourage people – particularly those who, like myself, don’t have a large budget – to choose products that would be healthier both for themselves and the environment, and so in January 2018, Naturally Northern Beauty was born.
Over time, Naturally Northern Beauty has grown and evolved as I continue explore ways to be more conscious and sustainable in other areas of my life. On my blog, you can expect to find tips and reviews on clean & ethical beauty, as well as sustainable fashion, lifestyle, health and wellness, as I strive to make choices that will benefit both myself and the planet.
Thanks for joining me on my journey!
