It’s been a chilly winter and I’ve been living in my beanie hats all season, however my hair and scalp are really not thanking me for it! I have been suffering particularly with a really dry patch at the front of my parting and wanted to find a natural product to help clear it up, without having to turn to medicated shampoos or creams.
I had a browse on LoveLula and came across Hairy Jayne’s Pre-Shampoo Treatment Oil. With Bay, Clary Sage, Lavender and Ylang Ylang essential oils, it’s formulated to help soothe dry scalps, nourish hair follicles and add shine to dull hair. At £14.00 (plus 15% off in the January sale), I thought it was worth a try.

On first impressions, I absolutely loved the packaging, their cute label design and the handy pipette for easy application. On my first use, I applied around 15-20 drops to my whole head, massaging in and brushing the oil through to the ends as instructed. The oil smells really lovely when you apply it and doesn’t feel too heavy or greasy on the hair. I left it on for just over 30 minutes and was hoping for an instant miracle, however after shampooing, conditioning and drying my hair, the dry patch was still as bad as before… in fact, it was probably worse because of all the vigorous shampooing I’d done to make sure my hair wasn’t still oily! However, my hair itself was super shiny and did feel extra nourished!
Before my next hair wash, I decided to apply the oil just to the affected area at the front of my parting. I left it on for nearly an hour this time, and made sure I didn’t over-shampoo that area when I washed my hair! I was pleased to see a bit more improvement once my hair was dry, and over the course of the next few days, the dry patch begun to improve even more!
On my third use, I applied it to the whole head again, leaving it for a good two and a half hours. After washing, I could see even more improvement… it’s certainly not cleared it entirely, but it’s getting there!
All in all, after three uses, I would recommend this product. It’s no immediate miracle worker, however it has certainly left my hair feeling nourished and shiny, as well as slowly helping to improve my dry scalp! You get a lot of bang for your buck as the bottle is pretty big, plus it will look beautiful in your bathroom!

Love this honest review – I’m considering trying some as my scalp is in dire need! It’ll improve with the weather I’m sure. So glad this worked for you after a few applications!
Thank you! Yes I would recommend it… after my first use I wasn’t so sure, but after the second use it has been gradually improving and is now pretty much gone!
Definitely looking forward to some warmer weather too 🙂

This sounds like something I should definitely look into – I suffer with psoriasis and am always trying to find more natural alternatives to the mountain of medicated shampoos and treatments in my bathroom! Loved this post x
Yeah exactly… I really didn’t want to have to resort to a medicated shampoo and this stuff was really great! I think it’ll not quite disappear until the weather gets a bit warmer, but the dry patch I had is definitely almost gone now thanks to this!
