“Muted nails are the new nude” said Elle’s Senior Beauty Editor, Kristina Rodulfo earlier this year. If you’re bored of wearing the same nude tones and are looking for a fresh take on neutral nails you can pull off everyday, this new trend for subdued shades of blue, grey, pink and purple might just be the thing for you!

This month I picked up two new muted Kure Bazaar shades from LoveLula; Hipster and Cashmere. Although they were one of the first natural brands I ever heard about, this was my first time trying Kure Bazaar; they’re relatively pricey at £15 a pop, so I wanted to see if they were worth it! Their nail colours are 10-free, meaning they are free from a variety of harmful ingredients found in traditional nail polishes such as parabens and formaldehyde; celebrities such as Emma Watson swear by them for a safe yet on-trend manicure.
On my fingers I used the shade Cashmere, with accented glitter nails using Kure Bazaar’s Argento. I finished them with a top coat from another brand. The Cashmere polish is a lot darker than the online image makes it look; I would have loved it to have been a paler grey, however I did like the colour all the same. I found that it lasted really well for the first couple of days, but then unfortunately the nails without the glitter began chipping quite rapidly… perhaps if I’d used Kure Bazaar’s own top coat, they might have had better staying power!

The nails with the glitter however, did stay almost perfect for around a week before any major chipping started to happen. I thought the glitter “pay off” from the Argento polish was really amazing; it gave a pretty solid coat of glitter with just one swipe and didn’t require all the touching-up and filling in of gaps that glitter polishes so often do!
On my toes (please excuse their weirdness!) I used Hipster, a shade which I am absolutely loving! I used the glitter polish again to accent my big toenails, then used the same top coat to finish. I know nail varnish on your toes always lasts much longer than on your hands, however I’m so impressed with how well this is doing… it’s now almost 2 weeks since I painted them and they are still almost perfect! This is particularly impressive considering the recent hot weather and that I’ve been spending a lot of time in sandals and pumps without socks!

Overall, I’ve been quite impressed with these nail polishes, particularly Hipster and Argento! I’ll certainly be keeping my eye out for a pale grey as I expected Cashmere to be, as – although I liked the colour – I was a little disappointed with how dark this came out. All in all though, I can’t wait to try some more Kure Bazaar shades!
