It’s been a few months since I last posted a “Tried & Tested”, so this post will review a mixture of newer products I’ve only been using for a short while, as well as some that have now become quite integral to my routine!
Products I’m loving…
- Kimberly Sayer Ultra Light Organic Facial Moisturiser with SPF30: This stuff is totally worth the hype… it’s constantly sold out at LoveLula, and it’s easy to see why! I’ve been using this moisturiser for about two and a half months now, and it’s definitely my favourite product in my daily routine. I was really keen to incorporate an SPF into my morning skincare, and had heard many great things about this moisturiser before purchasing it. It feels incredibly light, absorbs quickly, smells amazing (like lemon meringue) and the lemon oil also helps to keep blemishes and blocked pores at bay. It’s also really good value for such a successful product; it’s priced at £26.50 at LoveLula, which may sound like a lot initially, however when you consider the size of the bottle and I look at the rate at which I’m using it so far, I imagine that will last me at least another 6 months! This is one of the best green beauty products I’ve used so far… I can’t recommend it enough!
- The Konjac Sponge Company Green Clay Body Sponge: I’ve been using facial konjac sponges for a while, however had not tried a body sponge until recently and was really impressed with the results. My skin feels much softer and smoother, and the gentle exfoliation also helped to get rid of a rash I was suffering from under my arms, as well as some ingrown hairs and blemishes. The particular one I’ve been using is infused with French Green Clay, which is most suitable for oily and combination skin, and is priced at £11.99 at LoveLula.
- Hurraw Papaya Pineapple Lip Balm: This is the most recent purchase on the list, however I had to include it because I am just loving this lip balm so far. I’ve been wanting to try a Hurraw balm for ages, but was holding out on purchasing in case one was included in a LoveLula Beauty Box. Now that I’ve unsubscribed (just while I use up my backlog of facial products!), it was the ideal time to give one of these a try… I went for the Papaya Pineapple balm, which smells amazing and comes in very cute packaging with little shimmery pineapples all over it! It also fits perfectly into my purse, as it comes in an oval-shaped tube rather than a traditional round one. I can see these little balms becoming an obsession for me… I already want to try every one of the flavours! They’re available for £4.99 at LoveLula.
- Skin & Tonic Detox Mask: As you probably already know, I’m a huge fan of Skin & Tonic, and I was lucky enough to be sent their Detox Mask to try as part of their #MaskWeek campaign back in March. I’d used their Gentle Scrub as a mask before and loved it (see my January Tried & Tested post), however had been particularly keen to try the Detox Mask as it’s specifically formulated for oily/combination skin. I’ve been really impressed with the effects of this mask and find that it really rejuvenates my skin when it’s looking a bit dull, as well as neutralises any oiliness. I’ve used this mask with and without adding honey to the mixture, however do find that when I don’t, I constantly need to spray my face with a toner to stop the mask drying out on my skin. It’s available for £22 at LoveLula, and the 50g jar should last you a pretty long time!
Products I’m not…
Both the products I’m mentioning this month that I’ve not been keen on, I’ve not enjoyed for the same reason… I can’t stand the smell!
They are the Balm Balm Frankincense Hydrosol and the Oils of Heaven Organic Avocado Hydrating Face Oil. It’s a shame actually, because I noticed benefits to my skin when using both of these products – particularly the facial oil -, however I just struggled too much with the smell to continue using either of them. I definitely feel that skincare has to be enjoyable to use as well as do the job, and I don’t see much point in forcing yourself to use a product that it feels like a chore to use! Thankfully, I was able find both of these items a new home through the Clean Green Beauty Swap & Sell Facebook group, which I’d definitely recommend joining!
