As temperatures have dropped this month and I’ve found my lips have been getting super dry and chapped, I’ve been relying on these great, affordable green beauty essentials to keep them smooth and moisturised:
- Sister & Co. Raw Coconut Lip Tonic with Lemon Myrtle & Wild Mint: I absolutely love every product I’ve tried from Sister & Co., and this is no exception! It has an irresistible, fresh, minty smell and the mixture of Cacao Butter and Coconut, Macadamia and Avocado Oils is really nourishing for dry lips. Sister & Co. use minimally processed, food-grade, organic ingredients in their products; they can be slightly more pricey than some other brands, however because they are such high quality, I don’t mind treating myself occasionally! Their lip balms are £9 for a substantial 15ml pot, through the Sister & Co. website.
- Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm Tin: My local Waitrose stocks Burt’s Bees products, so I’ll occasionally pick something up and give it a try. I carry this little lip balm tin around in my purse (as you can see, it’s pretty battered!) as it’s a really handy size. Like the Sister & Co. balm, this lip balm has a minty smell (it contains Peppermint Oil) which is refreshing and tingly on the lips! Burt’s Bees products are pretty widely available; this lip balm tin is available on Amazon for £3.69. They also do a great range of lip balms in stick form, in various different flavours and with various different colour tints.
- Grounded Mango Lip Scrub: I always forget how great lip scrubs can be, until I get into the habit of using one and become obsessed all over again! I received this Grounded Mango Lip Scrub in a one-off TheVeganKind Beauty Box I bought a while back, but I’ve really got a lot of use out of it this Winter. Grounded’s products contain “no parabens, no fillers and no nasties”, although the ingredients list on this lip scrub does contain some difficult-to-decipher food dyes and – rather cryptically – “aroma”… If you want 100% transparency, maybe this isn’t the product for you (especially seeing as you eat it after scrubbing!), however as this was a beauty box bargain, I can’t really complain! It does do a really great job of gently exfoliating dry lips and also nourishes them with Extra Virgin Coconut Oil… plus is smells (and tastes) like a Summer cocktail! If you’d like to give it a try, it’s available at Holland & Barrett for £4.95.
- Lily Lolo Natural Lipstick in Berry Crush: If you read my first blog post, you’ll know how obsessed I am with Lily Lolo’s products. Their lipsticks contain Vitamin E and Organic Jojoba Oil, so as well as being a staple in your party makeup stash, they’re also really nourishing and moisturising for the lips. I’m super eager to try some more of the colours in the range, but Berry Crush is a great Autumn/Winter shade. They’re priced at around £9.50.
What are your Winter essentials? Have you tried any of these products? I’d love to hear from you!
